ANSI character code.
There are many characters not represented on a
keyboard. The ANSI character code set provides a means to produce
non-standard characters for both HTML and text editors. For HTML
the character code is inserted using, for example;
© or © which produces ©.
For text editors; holding down the ALT key and using the number keypad on the right of the keyboard 0169 or 169 will produce © . This does not work with some text editors and is also dependent upon the font style used.
